
With just a few days to go before the start of the 2026 Vuelta, how Monaco is preparing to make its mark on the history of the Grand Tours
This Saturday, 22 August at 4.17 pm, the Grand Départ of La Vuelta will officially get underway from Monaco. For the first time in its history, the race will set off from the Principality. As the big day approaches, Christian Tornatore, general commissioner of the Grand Départ, takes us behind the scenes of the event.
In a few days’ time, La Vuelta 2026 (also known as the Tour of Spain, one of the major cycling races on the international calendar) will set off from Monaco. This marks a first in the Principality’s history, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Spain. This Saturday, 22 August at 4.17 pm, the riders will set off from the Casino for an individual time trial.
