Marking its 20th anniversary, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation celebrated the environmental commitment of three international figures during its traditional Planetary Health Awards ceremony.
A Prestigious Awards Ceremony in Monte-Carlo
On Friday, 16 October 2026, the Salle des Étoiles at Sporting Monte-Carlo hosted the annual Planetary Health Awards ceremony, organised by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
Coinciding with the Foundation’s 20th anniversary, the event brought together members of its governing bodies, partners and numerous individuals dedicated to environmental protection.
Three International Figures Honoured
This year’s awards recognised three individuals from different backgrounds: a Kenyan scientist, a Swedish entrepreneur and an activist from Chad.
Through their respective fields of work, the laureates highlight the diversity of initiatives needed to address today’s major environmental challenges.
Their commitment demonstrates the importance of scientific research, entrepreneurial innovation and public engagement in building a more sustainable future.
Twenty Years of Commitment to the Planet
Established in 2006 at the initiative of Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Foundation has spent two decades working to protect the environment and promote sustainable development.
Its activities focus particularly on combating climate change, preserving biodiversity and protecting water resources.
Through its Planetary Health Awards, the Foundation annually recognises individuals and organisations whose work advances scientific knowledge, develops practical solutions and strengthens international efforts to protect the environment.
Monaco’s Role in Global Environmental Protection
Beyond the awards ceremony itself, the anniversary celebration highlights Monaco’s role in international environmental initiatives.
By bringing together scientists, entrepreneurs and environmental advocates, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation reaffirms its commitment to supporting sustainable solutions and fostering international cooperation in response to global environmental challenges.
