On Saturday evening, April 25, a gunman opened fire at a Washington hotel during the White House Correspondents' Dinner. While no one was injured except for a Secret Service agent who sustained minor injuries, the Monegasque sovereign wished to express his support for Donald Trump, his family, and the American people.
Following the gunshots that occurred on Saturday evening, April 25, at a Washington hotel during the traditional White House Correspondents' Dinner, which resulted in no injuries except for a Secret Service agent who was very slightly wounded by his bulletproof vest, Prince Albert II sent an official message to his American counterpart, Donald Trump.
“Mr. President, it was with deep emotion that I learned of the events that occurred Saturday evening in Washington, on the sidelines of the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner. I wish to express my relief to know that you, along with the First Lady and all the guests, are safe and sound following this exceptionally serious incident. On behalf of the Monegasque community, Princess Charlene, and my family, I extend to you, your wife, and the American people our solidarity.”
In total, approximately one hundred guests had to be evacuated from the venue. A suspect has been arrested.
