The construction of the Maybourne Riviera in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin

The former Vista Palace in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, bought by the former Emir of Qatar, is being sent to the Nice criminal court for various planning violations that reveal the not very "resort" underbelly of the renovation of this Côte d'Azur palace.

It is a jewel of glass and steel, perched on a rocky spur in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, overlooking Monaco. A five-star hotel whose renovation, designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, will have cost the former Emir of Qatar tens of millions of euros. His Excellency Hamad ben Khalifa al-Thani had bought the former Vista Palace at the bar of the commercial court in 2014. It took seven years of work for the transformation to take place and for "the Vista" to become Maybourne Riviera.

In July 2021, the palace gradually reopened its doors. The previous month, the municipal security commission had given the green light, noting only a few minor trifles during its inspection visit.
