...to celebrate the centenary of the Rainier III Academy

New for all philatelists in the Principality. For its centenary, the Rainier III Academy will receive a stamp, available from 25 March in various sales outlets.

While various events will be dedicated to this anniversary, the Rainier III Academy will start its centenary celebrations with the sale of a stamp. The Principality's music and theatre school was founded in 1922 as the Cours public et gratuit de Théorie musicale et de Musique d'ensemble under the direction of composer and concert artist Louis Abbiate. The establishment changed its name for the first time in 1934, following the publication of a Sovereign Order, to become the Municipal School of Music, before being called the Rainier III Academy in 1956. The years have passed and today it has more than 800 students in four departments.

The stamp, designed by Stefano Morri, will be printed in 40,000 copies and represents the world of music, with instruments and a score. It will be available from 25 March "at the Stamp Office, the Museum of Stamps and Coins, post offices and philatelic counters in the Principality, from Monegasque philatelic dealers, and at the Carré d'Encre in Paris", according to a press release.

It should be noted that on the same date, the Stamp Office will also offer a stamp dedicated to the International Dog Show, which will be held in the Principality on 7 and 8 May.
