Still the most glamorous evening of the Monegasque summer, the 77th Monegasque Red Cross gala refocused this year on its primary objective: to raise as much money as possible to support the organisation’s work.
As the Principality’s largest charitable organisation, the Red Cross holds “a special place in the hearts of Monegasques.” This is an apt description, put forward by Frédéric Platini, the organisation’s Secretary-General, which has been helping those in need both at home and abroad since 1948.
And for almost eight decades, this solidarity has been upheld through a prestigious gala designed to encourage donors to support the organisation’s work. On 10 August 1948, Prince Louis II opened the first Red Cross Night, whilst Maurice Chevalier put on a show on stage.
