“I approach this role with a deep sense of commitment”: Princess Charlene appointed Vice-President of the Monegasque Olympic Committee
An Olympic swimmer at the 2000 Sydney Games, Princess Charlene will now naturally support her husband Prince Albert II, himself a former Olympic athlete and President of the Monegasque Olympic Committee since 1994.

On the eve of the first stage of the “Mare Nostrum” international swimming meet, which is close to her heart (Saturday and Sunday at the Albert II Aquatic Centre in Monaco), Princess Charlene, a former Olympic swimmer, has been appointed Vice-President of the Monegasque Olympic Committee (COM).

“Sport has taught me discipline, respect and how to push myself to the limit. I now wish to put this experience at the service of athletes. It is therefore with a deep sense of commitment that I take on this role. Sport carries with it a demand for excellence, but also a responsibility: that of bringing people together, inspiring and passing on knowledge,” the Princess commented in a statement from the Prince’s Palace.
