...does it want to blacklist Monaco in the fight against money laundering? The Prince's government denies this.

The Principality, already singled out by the FATF, could soon be placed on Brussels' list of "high-risk third countries" in the fight against money laundering. The government denies this.

Just days before President Macron's visit to the Principality, the timing couldn't be worse. According to information from our colleagues at La Lettre, the European Commission plans to place Monaco on the "list of high-risk third-country jurisdictions" that do not meet anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing requirements.

This decision is, in reality, almost automatic when a country outside the European Union is singled out by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), as has been the case with the Principality since June 2024. However, for the time being, the Prince's government assures that it has not yet been officially notified of this decision by Brussels.
