Combating money laundering and terrorist financing: Monaco is on track to be removed from the grey list as early as 2026
Having commended Monaco’s further progress in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, the FATF assessors have announced they will visit the Principality at the end of the summer. This bodes well, based on previous experience.
The outlook is brightening. Two years after being placed on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF*) grey list for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing, the Principality received further positive assessments on Friday in Paris regarding the strengthening of its national framework. “In the context of the conclusions of this latest report, which follows on from three previous submissions, the FATF considers, on a preliminary basis, that Monaco has largely completed the implementation of its entire Action Plan drawn up in June 2024. These results attest to the seriousness, rigour and effectiveness of the work carried out over many months,” the government stated in a press release late on Friday evening.
